This apparent double house is actually two houses with a roofed-over enclosed passageway between them. In Civil War days, the passageway door provided entry into an arms and ammunition” arsenal.” The house to the left was built in 1835 by Jonathan Shaeffer, a tailor; the other house was built in 1830 by Daniel Kimport
